The Chase of Life

This makes me smile even as I begin to write about it.The truth is most people will tell you there’s no love, while they are on every app trying to find it. They will tell you there are no jobs without connection while applying to every opening without the said connection. It is the hope, the chase, the secret prayer, and believing that it is going to be different for them. The heartbroken will tell you they will never put themselves in situations where they can be hurt. The next morning they will smile at a stranger because we social beings.

That person who closed their business in years will swear they are done with business. Then one morning they will start over and give it one more try. We attract what we are used to and give ourselves reasons to run from the things we are unfamiliar with.I just listened to a psychologist describe the chaos that comes with trauma. He talks about not knowing what to do with peace because chaos is comfortable. He talks about how our coping mechanisms are justified because they may be unhealthy, but they make sense in our minds. And in that moment comfort is better than the truth, which in this case is self-sabotage. My twenties were wild, but my thirties are coming in strong and I am ready for it. To unlearning, to loving, to accepting, and to peace, all day every day.
